How to determine Hat Size

2. Measure tight to 1/8" for accuracy.
3. Divide by pi (3.1415) to find hat size.

We ask all customers to use their metric size when ordering a hat. If you are absolutely sure of your non-metric hat size, select your metric size from the table below. If you are in doubt, use the procedure that follows the table to determine your correct size. As stated below, it's always best to order the next largest size as you can always pad the inside of the hat.

To Determine Your Correct Hat Size

  • Use a piece of string to measure the circumference around your head where the hat would normally rest, usually just above your brow. Do not pull the string tight; rest it loosely along the band line.
  • Lay the string against a ruler to determine the length. If using inches, measure to the closet .25 inch and multiply the length by 2.54 to determine your metric size.

    Example 1: 22.5 inches x 2.54 = 57.15 cm.

    Example 2: 22.75 inches x 2.54 = 57.78 cm
  • Metric sizes are in whole increments. Therefore, if you have a fractional size, adjust downwards if the fraction is less than .5 cm, upwards if .5 cm and above. Using the above examples:

    Example 1: Order a size 57

    Example 2: Order a size 58
Please Note: It may be best to order one size larger than you measured or normally wear. You can always add padding inside to make a tighter fit, but you can't stretch the hats.
